THE BAROQUE PAINTING

Faded the Renaissance, quickly exhausted the classicism, we see the triumph of the baroque age.

Baroque painting in Rome, with Giovanni Lanfranco, Pietro da Cortona, Andrea Pozzo and Baciccia, is characterized by the imagination and the grandeur of its representations, which reaches their maximum and amazing expressions in the frescoes of the Roman churches.

Instead the artistic path followed by Guercino was different.

Our journey in the Roman Baroque painting begins with Lanfranco (1582 – 1647) and proceed with Guercino, Pietro da Cortona, Baciccia e Andrea Pozzo.
