Chapel of Our Lady of Loreto

Here is Caravaggio (1573-1610) at the top of his art. As we said this is one of the “scandalous” paintings by Caravaggio, because of the too realistic representation, while it wasn’t regarded so scandalous that the model for the Madonna was Lena, Caravaggio’s lover.
The frescoes on the catino are by Cristoforo Casolani (1582-1622).
