MICHELANGELO
The fame of Michelangelo (1475 – 1564), as a painter, is inevitably linked to the Sistine Chapel, although we must not forget the frescoes in the Paoline Chapel, commissioned by Pope Paul III Farnese.
Michelangelo worked on the Sistine Chapel for two different popes, Julius II, from 1508 - 1512 and Paul III, 1536-1541. For the first painted the ceiling, for the second, on the front wall, the Last Judgment.
