A BIT IN DEEP: FILIPPINO LIPPI
The Renaissance iconography often depicts the sibyls (Delphic, Cumana, Persian and Eritrea), because according to tradition they had announced the coming of Jesus.
Filippino was the natural son of the former Friar Filippo Lippi, former because, thanks to his patron, Filippo was loosed from his vows, not for this the wayward father married his partner, the mother of Filippino. Nevertheless, Filippo dearly loved his son.
It should be noted in the Carafa Chapel the delicate Virgin,
which recalls the favorite model of his father Filippo, not for nothing was the mother of Filipino.
