Despite Masolino was eighteen years older than Masaccio (1401-1428),
the two worked together until the death of the great Masaccio.
The most precious fruit of this collaboration is the famous Brancacci Chapel in Florence.
Given the association between the two great artists, it was only natural that when Masolino, in 1427, was called to Rome by Cardinal Prospero Colonna to create the altarpiece of Santa Maria Maggiore, was reached by Masaccio, who painted a part of the painting.
Later this great Altarpiece was dismembered.
In part has been lost, partly finished in several museums and at Santa Maria Maggiore there is nothing left.
